About this Event Funding Focus is a social enterprise that is raising awareness and providing training for female and diverse entrepreneurs who face a very uneven playing field when it comes to raising venture capital. With the ongoing pandemic, we’ve decided to take 2020’s lead and go virtual. Taking place online on 25 November – the 1st anniversary of our launch event at the London Stock Exchange – we are bringing together successful female and racially diverse entrepreneurs who have raised funding, enterprising minds, investment gurus and sector experts. The event will include speakers from around the world. Venture capital investment in businesses with female founders and racial minorities has been increasing but progress continues to be very slow. A recent report from PitchBook showed that in Q3 of 2020, VC funding to female founders in the USA fell by 48% compared with Q2 and is now back to the level seen in 2017. This has to change! By radically transforming the flow of funding for female and racial minority founded businesses, we can unleash a whole new stream of entrepreneurial activity to boost the global economy. This half-day, online conference will focus on:
Increasing the skills and knowledge of female and diverse entrepreneurs in terms of venture capital by discussing what approaches have worked and ensuring entrepreneurs understand their routes to funding. This will be done through a combination of lectures.
Raising awareness with the people who control the money in venture capital.
Raising awareness with NGO's and governments around the world.
By connecting and informing individuals, firms and industry bodies, we plan to drive sustained commitment to progress. Join us on 25 November for our 2nd annual event, hosted live online.
