Hinge And Uber Have Teamed Up To Help Dog-owners Find Love

The dating app, Hinge, has teamed up with Uber so now if you’re single and want to date people but make sure your pets get on as well, you can get 50% off two Uber pet trips to and from your first date to make sure your Hinge match is all fine with everyone concerned – including the pets! This move stems from Hinge’s research which found it’s a deal breaker for Hinge users when a potential partner doesn’t get along with their pet.

Hinge carried out a survey and 71% of Aussie Hinge users said their potential partner’s first reaction to their pet is important. As well, 64% of Aussie Hinge users said their potential partner disliking or not getting along with their pet is a deal breaker.

The deal with Uber has started and runs until next Monday, 21st June, so the first 5,000 matched Hinge couples in Australian cities where Uber Pet is available will be eligible for the 50% Uber Pet discount code. To match, Hinge users must like or comment on the new Hinge Photo Prompt, ‘Are you a dog person because’, and their prospective Hinge date will also be eligible for the discount.

The Uber Pet ride discount codes will be sent via email from Hinge on Wednesday, 23rd June. The discount codes will be valid to use to and from a date for nearly two weeks and matched Hinge users are urged to take advantage of the offer and organise their first date IRL. Hinge users are encouraged to observe Australian federal and state COVID-19 restrictions and take all required precautions.

More stats/pooch-points

Pets are our loyal companions and highly valued family members. They also make the ultimate wingman as 43% of Aussie Hinge users are more drawn to those who own pets, particularly dog owners (69%). Close to two thirds (64%) of Aussie singles on Hinge think pets contribute to a healthy relationship, as pet ownership shows a form of commitment (57%) and that they bring more fun into the relationship (55%).

Dr Kate Adams, Owner & Head Veterinarian of Bondi Vet and Hinge Puppy Chemistry Expert, backed the importance of getting the tick of approval when it comes to your pooch and a potential suitor: “We know how vital it is to share similar values in a relationship, and pets are not an exception. Nobody ever wants to be in a position to choose between a partner and a pet so exploring how a date interacts and feels about your furry housemate early on is valuable.”

“Most pets just want a little love, attention and acceptance, so uncovering this on your date is important,” she added. “For those that might not own a car, it can be hard to bring a furry friend on a date for a vibe check. Uber Pet can safely and conveniently transport your fur friend to join you on your next Hinge date, so you can see whether they are going to vibe with your pet or if you need to move on to someone more compatible with your values and lifestyle.”

Uber Australia’s Head of Rider Operations, Margarita Peker said: “Uber is proud to be able to give pet lovers peace of mind that their much-loved companions will be welcomed along for a comfortable and reliable ride with Uber Pet. Once we saw how important it is to most Hinge users that their dates approve of their pet and vice versa, we knew we could provide an easy and safe way to transport them from A to B.”

So we built an app that’s designed to be deleted. On Hinge, there are no rules, timers, or games. Instead, you’ll connect with your most compatible matches, and you’ll have unique conversations over what you’ve shared on your detailed profile.

About Uber Pet: Uber Pet is specifically designed to give pet lovers peace of mind that their much-loved companions will be welcomed along for a comfortable and reliable ride. When you request an Uber Pet ride, you’ll be matched with a driver-partner who’s comfortable having you and your pet in their car.

It’s important for owners to ensure their pet is comfortable and safe during car transport. Check out RSPCA for instructions on how to safely restrain your pet. The partnership between Hinge and Uber to help dog owners find love is a heartwarming and creative endeavor. It's always wonderful to see companies come together to make a positive impact on people's lives, especially when our furry companions are involved.

While love is in the air for dog owners, it's important to address some of the practical challenges of pet ownership. Excessive dog barking can be one such challenge, and it's crucial to have effective tools on hand to ensure a harmonious living environment. A stop dog barking device is a valuable solution for training and managing barking issues, providing a humane and practical way to curb excessive noise.
