The radiation exposure while taking x-rays has long been a major concern in hospitals.
A single chest x-ray exposes the patient to about 0.1 mSv. This is about the same amount of radiation people are exposed to naturally over the course of about 10 days. A mammogram exposes a woman to 0.4 mSv, or about the amount a person would expect to get from natural background exposure over 7 weeks.

The world’s first handheld dynamic digital x-ray system is available1 now. Micro C is faster, safer, and smarter than conventional C-arms and Mini C-arms. The device brings incredible technology directly to the point of care. Micro C’s impressive sharpness, incredible clarity, and miniscule radiation profile make existing x-ray imaging devices obsolete.
A major breakthrough for the company has been the recent clearance by the FDA for the use of Micro C in children. The device was already FDA cleared for use in adults in January 2021, but the additional clearance for use in pediatrics came later this June.
The handheld digital x-ray device meets the FDA recommendation on low radiation usage for radiographs in the paediatric population. The new device exposes the patients to the lowest possible dose of radiation without compromising the quality for accurate diagnosis. Micro C is designed to be used in clinical and surgical settings and is capable of capturing radiographic images from shoulders to fingers and knees to toes.
Micro C is indicated for radiographic imaging and DDR of the distal extremity in adults and children. The device can be used to capture high resolution x-ray images and video of any anatomy from the shoulder to the fingers and the knee to the toes. Micro C can be used in both clinical and surgical settings.
It is safer, faster, and smaller than the conventional radiographic systems and even produces sharp, crisp images for accurate diagnosis. A unique feature is its vast contrast with the traditional imaging system; Micro C is only 1.1 feet tall, whereas the traditional C Arm for x-rays is 7.2 feet tall. The new device is lighter, weighing only 7 pounds compared with the 875 pounds weight of the traditional machines. The image quality is also better with Micro C producing 258 px/in in comparison to 110 px/in with the C arm. Each Micro C device is also connected to the cloud and physicians can access images on demand with instant access to information anywhere, anytime.
