Although the German games industry cannot (yet) keep up with the world's best, the local Gamescom, which takes place every year in Hanover, is the world's largest video game fair. The fair counted over 370,000 visitors last year. This year the counter is going to 0. The coronavirus has thwarted the organizers and players, with the exception of selected trade visitors, the trade fair for the general public this year takes place purely digitally.
Nevertheless, many playful and technological highlights can be expected. The opening show with host Geoff Keighley is also very busy.
